My Approach

I am an Integrative and Relational Counsellor, which means I tailor my approach to your unique needs. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution but a collaborative journey built on connection.

Being "Relational" means that I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work. Many of our difficulties stem from our past and present relationships with others, whether within our families, friendships, or broader social circles. Because we are fundamentally relational beings, healing and growth often happen within a safe, trusting, and authentic connection. In our sessions, I pay close attention to what unfolds between us, as this 'here and now' experience in therapy can often reflect patterns from your other relationships. This allows us to explore, understand, and ultimately shift those patterns in a supportive environment.

My "Integrative" approach then draws from a rich tapestry of therapeutic methods and theories to create a way of working that suits you. Rather than sticking to one rigid school of thought, I thoughtfully blend insights from the theories below.

Psychodynamic theory

We'll explore how early life experiences and unconscious patterns might influence your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Understanding these deeper roots can bring profound insight.

Attachment-based therapy

This helps us understand how your early bonds and relationships have shaped your ways of relating to others and yourself and how secure or insecure attachment styles might be playing out in your life.

Person-centred therapy

This foundational approach emphasises creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space where you are seen, heard, and deeply accepted. It trusts in your inherent capacity for growth and self-healing.

Existential therapy

This encourages us to grapple with universal human concerns such as meaning, freedom, responsibility, isolation, and mortality. It can help you find purpose and face life's inherent challenges with greater courage and authenticity.

Body psychotherapies

Recognising the powerful link between mind and body, we may explore how emotions and experiences are held in your physical self. It can involve bringing awareness to bodily sensations, breath, and movement to deepen insight and facilitate release.

By integrating these diverse perspectives, I can offer a holistic and flexible approach that addresses the physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of your identity, bringing them all into the therapy process.

I'll collaborate with you to understand the heart of what's brought you here. This insight then becomes the foundation for us to build upon, helping you move towards a more authentic and fulfilling life
